Excursions for accompanying persons

During the conference additional excursions for accompanying persons can be organized depending on the interest. Details are available in the booklet Excursion mini guide.
  • Opatija-Volosko-Lovran-Moscenicka Draga-Opatija (boat trip)
Volosko is an authentic fishing village of ancient narrow houses and two lighthouses. It is situated about a kilometer from Opatija. Lovran is the boutique destination, with exclusive and renovated villas dating back to the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, and one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the whole of the Opatija Riviera. It began to develop as touristic destination virtually at the same time as Opatija. Trip ends at Moscenicka Draga, famous for its beautiful pebble beaches. Excursion is about 3 hours long, with 45 min stop in Moscenicka Draga. Price per person is about 20 EUR, and includes a drink on the boat.
  • Postojna cave
Postojna cave is one of the biggest and most visited caves in the world. It is only 8C inside the cave all year round. The olm, or proteus, a blind amphibian endemic lives in the subterranean waters of caves in a complete darkness. It is also occasionally called the "human fish" by locals because of its skin color. It is a half-day excursion (from 14:00 to 19:00) about 5 hours long. Price per person is about 45 EUR and includes entrance in the cave
  • Island Krk
Island Krk is the biggest Croatian island, rich in historical monuments. The excursion includes a visit to towns Krk and Vrbnik. The ancient town Krk is one of the oldest in the Adriatic. The most famous product of Vrbnik's fields and of Vrbnik in general, is its golden yellow wine - the Zlahtina. Vrbnik is perched on a limestone outcrop 50m above the see with the marvelous view on Vinodol Channel. Price per person about 40 EUR and includes wine tasting (local ham, cheese, and wines).
  • Rijeka-Trsat-Kastav
Rijeka is the principal seaport and the third largest city in Croatia (after Zagreb and Split). Trsat is a historical part of the city with castle, fortress and churches. Today it is a major Croatian Christian pilgrimage centre. Finally, a small town of Kastav is built on a 365m high hill overlooking the Kvarner Bay. Price per person around 20 EUR.
  • Rovinj
Rovinj is a picturesque town in Istria. Part of the Venetian Empire for over 500 years, the old town is perched on a pear-shaped peninsula high up on a hill, crowded with Venetian terracotta-roofed houses and crowned by the Church of St Euphemia, whose bell tower dominates Rovinj's skyline. Price per person around 25 EUR (bus trip).
