Job description
PhD position is open to work on research and
development of innovative gamma ray imaging detectors for fundamental
research and applications in medical imaging. The research activities
are related to the SiLGaP project and to the project "Electrons, kaons
and neutrons in high precision measurements of hadrons and nuclei
properties", both funded by the Croatian Science Fundation. The project activities are based at the
Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, but they also include strong
cooperation with the Faculty of Science, University of Sydney,
Australia.
Candidate's main responsibilities will be to perform GEANT4 simulations
of the detector concept, participate in detector assembly and perform
test measurement in the laboratory, as well as to develop and optimize
image reconstruction alghoritms.
The candidate will attend the Nuclear physics courses in the
Postgraduate school at the University of Zagreb, which is covered by the
contract. The job is full-time for period of four years.
Candidate profile
Eligible candidates should:
- hold Master's degree in physics
- present grades transcript
- provide 2 recommendations, one of which form the Master thesis supervisor
Experience in experimental nuclear physics is advantageous and shall be proven by the topic
of the Master's thesis, published papers or by a letter of
recommendation.
Additional skills and experience
Experience in ROOT, GEANT4 is desireable, as well as a good
knowledge of English.
