Job description
Work on research and development of an
innovative detector concept for Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
within the project "Single Layer Gamma-Ray Polarimeter for Medical
Imaging Applications and Fundamental Physics Research - The SiLGaP
Project".
The SiLGaP project aims to develop a new modular gamma detector and
polarimeter, based on scintillation pixels, silicon photomultipliers and
fast digital electronics. The project activities are based at the
Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, but they also include strong
cooperation with the Faculty of Science, University of Sydney,
Australia.
One of the candidate's main responsibilities will be development of
image reconstruction for the newly assembled PET setup. The other
responsibilities include detector assembly and testing, measurements and
data analysis.
The job is full-time for period of two years, with a six month probation
period.
Candidate profile
Eligible candidates should:
- hold PhD in physics
- provide 2 recommendations, one of which form the PhD supervisor
- be less than 10 years since starting the PhD
Experience in medical physics, experimental nuclear physics or/and
computational modeling is advantageous and shall be proven by the topic
of the PhD dissertation, published papers or by a letter of
recommendation.
Additional skills and experience
Experience in ROOT, GEANT4, MATLAB are desireable, as well as a good
knowledge of English.
