High Speed Molecular Recognition Microscopy

The Atomic Force Microscopy Group (PI: Prof. Peter Hinterdorfer) at the
Institute of Biophysics, Department of Applied Experimental Biophysics
at Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz is looking for an early stage
researcher (predoc) to integrate molecular recognition force microscopy
into a high speed atomic force microscope.

The contract will be within the framework ‘Scanning probe microscopies
for nanoscale fast, tomographic and composition imaging - SPM2.0’ (ref.
721874)
of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network. The successful candidate
will be integrated into multidisciplinary training and research program
of a consortium consisting of internationally renowned scanning probe
microscopy specialists.

Requirements:

Degree and Master on any field of Physics, Biophysics or Engineering
(completed before the contract starting date)
Multidisciplinary qualifications (Physics/Bio, Engineering/Bio etc.).
Knowledge of Atomic Force Microscopy, specifically Force Spectroscopy
and High Speed Atomic Force microscopy will be a plus
High level of English and good communication skills
Ability to maintain accurate and up to date records
Ability to organise and prioritise own work and organise research
within the project schedule
Computer literacy, analytical skills and effective team working

Marie-Curie fellowship Mobility requirement:

At the time of recruitment by JKU, candidates must not have resided or
carried out their main activity (work or studies) in Austria for more
than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment.

We offer:

3 years PhD contract. Very competitive salary and mobility allowance.
Envisaged starting date: March 1st 2017
