Systematic investigation
of electrical and magnetic properties of selected high-Tc superconductors
(HTS), amorphous metals (a-m), nanophase systems and molecular magnets
is being pursued.
For HTS (Bi-cuprates, Ag-sheathed
tapes and single crystals), the origin of dissipation below Tc,
the critical current density (Jc-B-T surface) and the magnetic
phase diagram (the irreversible field Birr and the field B*
for maximum pinning-force density) are being studied in a broad temperature
(2-120K) and magnetic field (B£23T) range.
Research of a-m is focused
on feromagnetic systems. The nature of magnetic phase transition and elementary
excitations in strongly diluted (p®pc)
ferromagnets (percolation and fractal phenomena) are investigated. The
magnetization processes and the origin of the reduction of loss E in Fe-
and Co- based soft a-ferromagnets (important for technological applications)
are also studied. Similar studies are being pursued on new nanophase systems
obtained by annealing a-ferromagnets. In non-magnetic Zr2Ni1xMx
(M=3d metal) ternary a-systems the interplay of the electronic structure,
magnetic state of M and disorder (weak localisation) is investigated.
In the especially interesting
molecular magnets (of Mn12-acetates) the quantum tunneling of
magnetization (quantum hysteresis) is being investigated by the use of
a SQUID magnetometer at low temperatures (T>1.6K).
