Također ćemo razmotriti i način zapisa paleomagnetskih mjerenja i testove paleomagnetske stabilnosti kojima se provjerava je li remanentni magnetizam utvrđen u uzorcima primaran ili sekundaran.<br>U trećem dijelu seminara ćemo razmotriti primjenu paleomagnetskih rezultata. Kod paleogeografskih istraživanja se izračunavanjem putova prividnog kretanja geomagnetskih polova u stijenama različite starosti može utvrditi pomicanje tektonskih ploča, odnosno kretanje određene točke na površini Zemlje tijekom geološke povijesti. Primjena paleomagnetskih mjerenja u tektonskim istraživanjima omogućava istraživanje translacijskih i rotacijskih kretanja pojedinih blokova Zemljine kore, čime se može objasniti tektonski sklop terena. Kod magnetostratigrafskih istraživanja se koriste izmjene magnetskog polariteta u geološkoj prošlosti kako bi se utvrdila starost stijena ili omogućila korelacija između različitih sljedova naslaga.
