<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; MARGIN: 0px; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%" data-mce-style="text-align: left; margin: 0px; line-height: 115%;"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: arial,helvetica,sans-serif" data-mce-style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Kompleksni metalni sustavi su već dugo vremena pokretači velikog dijela industrijskog razvoja. Stoga je bitno proučavati i njihova fundamentalna fizikalna svojstva. Elektronski transport je fenomen kojega je prilično lako mjeriti no ne uvijek i tako lako razumjeti pošto ovdje strukturni, nabojni, orbitalni i spinski stupnjevi slobode te njihova moguća međuigra imaju važnu ulogu.<BR>Jedan prekrasan primjer kako kristalna struktura utječe na transportna svojstva su aproksimanti dekagonalnih kvaziperiodičnih kristala čije jedinične ćelije mogu sadržavati od nekoliko desetaka do nekoliko tisuća atoma. Na primjeru (Y-AlCoNi, Al<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">13</SPAN>Co<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">4</SPAN>, Al<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">13</SPAN>Fe<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">4</SPAN>, Al<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">13</SPAN>(Fe,Ni)<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">4</SPAN> te T-AlMnFe) ću pokazati kako povećanje jedinične ćelije te time i kompleksnosti kristalne strukture utječe na smanjenje anizotropije. Usporedbom tih sustava s dekagonalnim kvaziperiodičnim kristalima pokazalo se kako je elektronska anizotropija izrazitija kod posljednjih te kako stupanj nereda ima velik utjecaj. <BR>Primjer gdje je međudjelovanje magnetskih i elektronskih stupnjeva slobode značajno su interkalirani dihalkogenidi prijelaznih metala. Kod ovih materijala su korelacijski efekti pojačani uslijed njihove snižene dimenzionalnosti, te uzrokuju formiranje lokaliziranih magnetskih momenata. Proučavanje utjecaja hidrostatskog tlaka te magnetskog polja na Co<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">0.33</SPAN>NbS<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">2</SPAN> koji se antiferomagnetski (AF) uređuje na 26 K, te Fe<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">0.33</SPAN>TaSe<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: x-small" data-mce-style="font-size: x-small;">2</SPAN> koji se feromagnetski uređuje na 70 K pokazuje kako je kod prvoga AF faza potpuno potisnuta na 17 kbar dok je kod drugoga primijećeno postojanje otporne histereze kao i „mekšanje“ feromagnetizma pod tlakom.<BR>Na kraju jedan od najproučavanijih sustava u zadnjih 30 godina su visokotemperaturni kupratni supravodiči gdje međuigra orbitalnih i spinskih stupnjeva slobode rezultira iznimno bogatim i kompleksnim faznim dijagramom.  U svojim istraživanjima sam se fokusirao na područje faznog dijagrama gdje je uočena tzv. faza pseudoprocjepa i gdje je elektronski transport dugo vremena bio predmet znanstvene diskusije. Dodatnu složenost ovdje donosi i postojanje vala gustoće naboja na niskim temperaturama koji se pojavi nakon potiskivanja supravodljivosti magnetskim poljem.  Nedavna mjerenja otpora i Hallovog koeficijenta u visokim magnetskim poljima razjasnila su temperaturne trendove ovih veličina te pokazala kako se elektronska svojstva kuprata mogu opisati u okviru teorije Fermijeve tekućine.<BR></SPAN></P>

<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; MARGIN: 0px; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%" data-mce-style="text-align: left; margin: 0px; line-height: 115%;"><EM><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: arial,helvetica,sans-serif" data-mce-style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Petar Popčević obranio je doktorsku disertaciju na Sveučilišu u Zagrebu na temu anizotropije transportnih svojstava aproksimanata dekagonalnih kvazikristala. Nakon toga radio je na uspostavi laboratorija za visoki tlak. Posljednju godinu dana proveo je na Tehničkom sveučilištu u Beču radeći na istraživanjima visokotemperaturnih kupratnih supravodiča. Njegov trenutni znanstveni interes predstavljaju metalični slojeviti materijali gdje su korelacijski efekti pojačani uslijed snižene dimenzionalnosti te gdje magnetski stupnjevi slobode igraju zamjetnu ulogu.</SPAN></EM></P>
