    Vrijeme: 14 sati c.t.
    Mjesto: IRB, predavaona I krila

   Sažetak:

Since its start of operation in 2010, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)
has commented a very large amount of proton proton collisions at
center of mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV. Besides searching
directly for manifestations of physics beyond the Standard Model (SM)
of Particle Physics, an important tast of the LHC is check the validity
of the SM at the TeV scale. As it is well known, a central part of this
task consisting in confirming the SM mechanism to introduce masses
of bosons and fermions through Spontaneous Symmertry Breaking
was successfully completed through the discovery of a Higgs boson
by the CMS and ATLAS Collaboration in 2012. In this seminar, we
will review the status of the SM study at the TeV scale by focusing
on the electroweak and Higgs sector, which are both related to the
interest and specific contribution of the CMS group at RBI.

About the speaker

Vuko Brigljevic, Head of the High Energy Physics Group at RBi
Graduated experimental physics at ETH Zurich in 1993. Graduate
student at ETH, working on the L3 experiment at the
Large Electron Positron (LEP) Collider at CERN. Obtained PhD
in 1999 with a thesis on the measurement of B-Bbar oscillations.
Postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
from 1999 to 2002, working on the BABAR experiment at the
Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). In BABAR, worked
on the first observation of CP violation in neutral B mesons.
In the BABAR experiment, also worked on the operation of the
large system of Resistive Plate Chamber detectors.
Research Fellow at CERN from 2002 to 2003. Joined the
CMS experiment. Main activities in CMS: High Level Trigger
system and algorithms. Electroweak Physics, and in particular
Multiboson final states and study of gauge couplings. Since
the start of Run2, fermionic couplings of the Higgs boson
with a focus on the H->bb decay. Also involved with
the group at RBI with operations and R&D of silicon
pixel detectors.
