Understanding and modelling individual mobility
Prof. Armando Bazzani

We propose a cognitive-physical model to study the dinamics of intelligent particles (humans) moving in urban-like enviroments. We point out the existence of critical states and transitions in the system evolution. The comparison with experimental observations takes advantage from new set GPS data on private individual mobility. New empirical universal (for Italian cities) laws are then discussed for the stationary state, that suggest evidence of the existence of a finite mobility energy and random use of activity time. These statistical laws allow an average description of the mobility state; departure from this behaviour is the fingerprint of the system complexity.
