The field of ultracold molecules (UCM) has grown rapidly in recent years, given the importance of such systems for fundamental and applied research. One of the main challenges is to produce UCM in the ground state. Resonant coupling of molecular states is a promising and effective process to form UCMs and has been applied in several cases of homo- and hetero-nuclear molecules. The case of Cs2 and prospects for KCs resonant coupling will be presented. In addition, a novel optical vibrational cooling scheme that includes resonant coupling will be presented, and prospects for further rotational cooling will be discussed.
