      2.1. Optical measurements in engine: combustion emission, spray research

      2.2. Single cylinder AVL glass-engine for gasoline applications

      2.3. Jenbacher - single cylinder research engine for diesel spray study

      2.4. Optical access for real gasoline engine operation: AVL-Visiolution methods - optical spark-plugs (Flame and Knock - variants) and head gasket sensor - optical Tomography.

      3. Optical methods in flow measurements and injector development

      3.1. Hydraulic conditions and fuel delivery. Flow velocity, flow turbulences and cavitation, cavitation and erosion

      3.2. High-pressure model throttle with optical access for flow measurements

      3.3. Light transmission and flow visualization: Cavitation and turbulence visualization, optics, erosion measurements.

      3.4. Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) and flow velocity measurements: Principle, Experiment,  Results: velocity profiles and RMS. Diesel at stationary and transient flow conditions. Gasoline.

      3.5. Interferometry and local pressure measurements: Physical principle of phase measurements, Fast 2D-FFT and phase calculations, Measured phase and local density, Experiment, Results: Single-shot density distributions, Mean and RMS, Differential density and fluctuations, Fluctuation statistics, Frequency of turbulence generation, Bubbles collapse and shock waves, Abel transform for spherically symmetrical shock waves. Important optical parameters: temporal and spatial resolution. Double-camera temporally delayed images and delayed pulses 2-Camera interferometry. Results: 2D-velocity field. Correlation analysis of delayed turbulent density distributions and 2D-velocity field.
