Dissociation of Molecules in the Strong Laser Fields

It is found that molecule undergoes fragmentation in the intense laser fields of 1013-14 Wcm-2. We propose two dissociation mechanisms to interpret this universal phenomenon. The first one is pre-dissociation mechanism of the super-excited states of molecules. Potential energy surfaces of the super-excited states have been studied. Another mechanism considers that the potential energy surfaces have been affected by the strong laser fields. A dynamic study indicates that the field causes the dissociation of molecule directly.
