mathematical, biological and environmental sciences. Such systems are typically irreversible, e.g. because they dissipate energy pumped in from the outside, or age very slowly towards a stationary state that may never be reached. They also frequently exhibit
extreme events such as cascades of collective failure. In contrast to phenomena at, or close to, equilibrium, our understanding of non-equilibrium systems is still in its infancy. </span></span></span>

The CONES Conference will feature keynotes and contributed lectures on non-equilibrium systems in three strands focussing on classical and quantum systems, biological systems and environmental dynamics.<br>
All three days of the meeting will feature plenary sessions alongside these thematic strands, to stimulate discussions on unifying ideas, problems and questions. A poster session will also bring all three strands together, to provide further scope for cross-disciplinary
interaction; posters will be on display throughout the conference.<br>
