> The Preibisch lab ( <http://www.preibisch.net/>www.preibisch.net <http://www.preibisch.net/>) together with the Reber lab (www.thereberlab.com <http://www.thereberlab.com/>) is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow to develop algorithms for quantitative analysis of large data sets from 4D time-lapse fluorescence microscopy and of single molecule imaging by TIRF microscopy.
>
> The candidate will develop innovative computer-vision algorithms for segmentation and tracking of subcellular structures aiming at automatic data collection and analysis. The individual will work collaboratively with a team of computer scientists and experimentalists to efficiently implement these algorithms allowing real-time high-throughput analysis of big data sets. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent and a background either in computer science, biophysics, physics, or engineering or in biology with strong expertise in programming and biological image analysis algorithm development. Experience in biomedical microscopy or adaptive optics would be an advantage but is not essential. This opening could be tailored to individuals interested in pursuing an original academic research program or a specialist with experience as a software developer/engineer.
> The Preibisch lab at the Berlin Institute of Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB) <https://www.mdc-berlin.de/13800178/en/bimsb> combines cutting-edge light and electron microscopy, transcription imaging and deep sequencing with computer vision and software development. Please visit our website for more details about our research: <http://www.preibisch.net/>www.preibisch.net <http://www.preibisch.net/>
> To understand the biochemical and biophysical principles that underlie the self-organization and scaling of subcellular organelles, the Reber labat the IRI for the Life Sciences combines cell biological experiments, single molecule studies, and mathematical modeling. > Preferred Qualifications:
>
> PhD in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.
> Some prior experience in statistical analysis
> Experience in machine vision, machine learning, image segmentation, and/or image analysis.
> Familiarity with high-performance computing and efficient handling of large datasets.
> Established collaborative programming skills in Java, C/C++, Python or similar languages.
> Demonstrated ability to use Fiji, Matlab, Imaris, Huygens, or LabView.
> Ability to communicate and support interdisciplinary work in small groups.
